This week we have been learning about addition.

We Are Learning To:

add sets or numbers together

Here are some words for addition…

- Join

- Plus

- Altogether

- Total

- Increase

There are different ways to add numbers…

- Counting using materials or pictures

- Using imaging ( counting in our heads)

- Counting up from the highest number

Can you find some opportunities to add objects or number

together at home?

Last week in Maths we were learning about Statistics.
We learnt about tally marks and recorded our own tally marks about pets.

We also sorted images into categories - Summer and Winter.
On the wall in Room 2, we created a birthday pictogram with monkeys and bananas.

Today we walked up to Mt Atkinson as part of our Turangawaewae concept.

We looked at the view of our moana - the Manukau, and we stood on our maunga - Mt Atkinson. The view was fantastic!

We also identified the Kauri, Rimu, Mankua, Ponga, Pohutukawa and Nikau trees.

Some of us collected dead leaves off the forest floor along the way.

We even saw a Kereru on the power lines - all these things make the place we stand so very special.
